American Academy of Estate Planning Lawyers (AEP) is an organization that provides the expertise and knowledge for estate planning. The academy has been in operation since 1978.

The objective of the Academy is to train its members in the areas of estate planning and personal bankruptcy law, so that they can make sound decisions regarding the future of their estates and their families. The members are also expected to meet a standard of excellence, both in the professional arena and in their interpersonal relationship with their clients. This standard of excellence is reflected in the standards and ethical standards of conduct set forth by the academy and in the standards and ethics of the individual members.
The AEPA is made up of the following officers: the president; two vice-presidents; five board of directors; four assistant directors; twelve instructors; and one technical committee. The members of the technical committee are the chair and two of the three associate members. The five associate members are elected from time to time and serve until the next meeting. The twelve instructors and the technical committee are appointed by the board of directors.
The members of the AEPA must be licensed lawyers or certified public accountants, have graduated from an approved law school, have passed a written examination, and be at least 25 years of age. They must be United States citizens and a resident of the United States but may be practicing in other countries.
To become a member of the AEPA, an individual must fill out a brief application form. He or she should also submit a resume detailing their professional experience and education, a statement of purpose, and a statement of need for membership. A copy of their state bar card should also be provided.
Membership requirements are open to anyone, regardless of his or her location, profession or educational background. An applicant for membership will undergo a background and reference check by the board of directors. The applicant should also meet eligibility requirements, such as age and citizenship. before being considered for membership. To become a member, a prospective member should first complete a training program, which consists of an online tutorial and a thirty-day internship in an office of the board of directors.
To become a member of the AEPA, you must have completed the online tutorial by the end of the program and pass the written exam. After completing the online tutorial and passing the written exam, you will then need to attend a membership meeting. This meeting will be conducted by either a teacher or an executive coach, depending on the type of membership offered.
The member who attends the meeting should have prepared a written statement, detailing their accomplishments, current job, education, and any family members. They will be judged on a variety of criteria based on the information submitted in the written statement. After the meeting, they will have the opportunity to communicate with the board of directors about their accomplishments. They will have the opportunity to develop a plan, which will include their goals, objectives and an assessment of their personal and professional skills.
The members of the AEPA are required to meet on a regular basis in order to keep their membership status. Their meetings are usually conducted at various locations throughout the country. Members will also meet one on one with the members of the technical committee to review the plans that they have created.
